We are beyond happy with all of our wedding photos!!! You are a genius! We can’t thank you enough for letting us relive the day through all of these incredible images!
This wedding at the William Gray Hotel in Old Montreal was unique in so many ways. It was my first time shooting a Hotel William Gray wedding, although I have another one there next month, and it’s a fantastic location for a wedding reception.
It was also unusual as the wedding was on a Monday, and it was all over and done with by 6 pm. And that suited me perfectly for a good reason. Evelyne and I had tickets to see Radiohead that night at the Bell Centre!
I’d been over in Quebec City 3 days earlier with the couple, Nabila & Christian, for their engagement shoot. It was great to see them again on a sunny Monday morning, along with their friends, who were all getting ready at one of the swankiest Air BnB locations I’ve seen. We started early and then headed out with the bridal party for some photos around the old part of Montreal, beginning outside the Basilica and ending with Nabila & Christian on their own down by the port. On our way back to the William Gray Hotel, a bunch of tourists spotted the couple and burst into song! There were even people stopping them to get photos with them. Luckily it didn’t get too out of hand so we had plenty of time to get some great wedding portraits and fun photos with their friends.
The ceremony was held in a fairly small room inside the hotel and was pretty tricky due to a strong backlight from the summer’s day outside compared with low light inside the room. I was forced to use a little flash, which I very rarely use during a ceremony, to balance the light a little. It was an emotional ceremony but also filled with humour. The couple then took their bridal party for a private little toast and then joined all their guests on the roof terrace for food, drink, speeches and some dancing. The weather was perfect, and the whole vibe was totally chilled. Just as we like it.
That photo of the bridal party at the top is easily my favourite group shot I’ve taken at a wedding in Montreal. I love the location and all the colours. Such a cool group!
And then I collected Evelyne, and we caught a fantastic Radiohead show. Not a bad start to the week 🙂
Huge thanks to Nabila & Christian for inviting me to document their amazing wedding for them. I had such a great day with them and their friends and family. Really looking forward to being back at the William Gray Hotel for Francesca & Mike’s wedding in just 3 weeks.

One of the reasons I love shooting weddings at the William Gray hotel is that there are so many cool locations to take photos close to the venue, from the cobbled streets of Old Montreal to the amazing architecture close by. We can also take a short walk over to the Old Port for portraits close to the water or just wander the Montreal streets to make the most of the picturesque surroundings, such as Notre Dame Basilica and the backstreets close to Rue St-Paul.
One of the best spots for photos inside the venue is the Terrasse William Gray, located on the 8th floor of the hotel, which features a bar and offers a panoramic view of the city. Hire a great DJ to get the vibe right, and this can be a superb place for the wedding reception rather than using the ballroom downstairs.
A card with agenda for a wedding day – such a sweet move! Overall, wonderful couple and photoshoot:)
Thanks a lot Anastasia. Those cards were so good!
