I’m an award-winning photographer based just outside Montreal, Quebec. I specialize in professional corporate and actor’s headshots and portraits taken on location, and sometimes in a studio.
Whether I’m photographing celebrities, musicians, CEOs, actors or the girl who runs the local bagel store, I want to create emotionally and visually compelling headshots that are pretty different from the current trends. I believe the headshots I take have a unique ability to convey as much of the true essence of a person as a camera can capture in a headshot environment. That may sound cliche, but take a quick look online, and you’ll find this isn’t very common at all.
I almost always work on location, creating headshots in real-world environments, whether in your office, workplace, home or outdoor locations that fit with the image you’re hoping to convey. Very few of the photographs you see on this page were taken in a studio. Working on location allows me to create unique portraits every time.
It also means your headshot session will not interrupt your day any more than it has to.
Your headshot is a record of the real you at this moment in time. A single instant that is packed with purpose. This is the best possible opportunity for you to simply be YOU! Pick one thing you really want to emphasize in your headshot, and have that in your shot. That could mean professionalism, a friendly personality, a great actor, a cool musician, or something else entirely.
Everyone has their idea of what a headshot should look like, and they won’t hesitate to share it with you if you ask them. I aim to seize one aspect of you that is indisputable evidence of your individuality and convey it to the world.
The method that I use is not the norm. I like to concentrate on experimenting with light and shadow rather than simply creating a pretty photo. I want to collaborate with you in order to produce a series of pictures that compels the viewer to pay attention. Each shot is unique, and I’m proud of the fact that no client will ever have the same shot as the person who came before them or the one who will come after them.
A good headshot does one thing well: it makes people want to know more about you.

The best thing you can do before your session is get a decent sleep. Beyond that: drink water, moisturize the night before, and think about what you actually want from the photos.
Are you going for approachable and professional? Creative? Authoritative? Having a rough idea going in means we can work toward something specific rather than just seeing what happens.
Bring anything you’d normally wear or carry, glasses included. If you’re unsure what to wear, we can talk through it beforehand.
Solid colours almost always work better than patterns. Not because patterns are bad, but because they pull the eye away from your face, which is kind of the whole point.
Wear something that fits well and that you’d actually wear in real life. If it’s too tight, too loose, or something you’re not comfortable in, it’ll show.
Keep jewellery simple. And think about what you’re trying to convey: a blazer reads differently from a t-shirt, and both are valid depending on who you are and what you do.
The lighting and backdrop of the photo may considerably influence your headshot’s overall tone and mood.
Natural light tends to be the most flattering, but if that’s not possible, I’ll use a softbox to provide a soft and even light source for your photograph.
I usually choose an unobtrusive and uninteresting background. A neutral background can help direct attention to your face rather than any distracting objects in the background.

Most people feel awkward in front of a camera, and that’s completely normal. The goal isn’t to look like a model. It’s to look like a relaxed version of yourself.
I’ll give you direction throughout, so you don’t need to figure it out on your own. Relax your face before we start: jaw unclenched, shoulders down. Look into the lens like you’re talking to someone you know.
I’ll also take some shots where you’re not looking directly into the camera, which can completely change the feel of an image and often produces the most interesting results.
Once your proof gallery is ready, you’ll have plenty of options to go through.
Look for the shot where you look like yourself at your best, not a perfected, unrecognizable version of yourself.
Consider where you’re going to use it: a LinkedIn profile and an acting portfolio call for different things. And if you genuinely can’t decide, I’m always happy to weigh in.
After your session, you’ll get a link to a private proof gallery within 48 hours. Share it with whoever you’d like to help you pick your shots — agent, management, friends, family. Just note that only the final retouched images are cleared for public use. Additional retouched images are available for $50 each, or 3 for $120.
A 50% deposit is required to book a session. If you need to cancel or reschedule, it’s fully refundable or transferable with at least 48 hours’ notice. You’re also welcome to pay in full upfront, which works well if you’re buying it as a gift. The balance can be paid by cash, Interac, or PayPal on the day. I take bookings up to 2 months in advance.
Studio sessions are available for an additional $150.
Travel more than 100 km from Montreal or St-Lazare will incur additional fees.
Sessions start at $200 for a 30-minute mini session. A standard 1-hour session is $375 and includes five retouched photos. Portfolio sessions (2 hours, 10 retouched photos) are $600. Corporate headshot days for teams start at $650 per hour with a 2-hour minimum. Additional retouched images are $50 each.

A private online proof gallery is delivered within 24–48 hours of your session. Once you’ve selected your favourite images, retouched final photos are provided. For corporate headshot days, proof galleries are typically delivered within 48 hours.
Yes. Steve sets up a mobile studio at your office or event venue and photographs your team during the workday. The typical pace is 10–12 people per hour. Pricing starts at $650 per hour (2-hour minimum), with one retouched high-resolution photo per person included. Additional retouched images are $50 each.
