So apparently, in Canada, springtime involves going into the woods to a place called a Sugar Cabin, or Cabane à sucre, and filling your face with all kinds of stuff which you probably wouldn’t see on any Weight Watchers recommendation lists!
Pancakes, sausages, ham, omelette, meat pies, baked bean, sugar pie…. all drenched in maple syrup. The kids couldn’t get enough of it. For my first Sugar Cabin experience we headed to a place in St Lazare, close to where we’ll soon be living and met up with friends who also brought along their wide-eyed kids.
It was a proper spring day too. Sunny. Warm. But still some snow on the ground. After filling our bellies we enjoyed the best weather of the year so far before finishing it all off with a tire d’érable, where you roll your own pure maple syrup lolly in the snow.
I took my camera too. Good times 🙂
