La Grange Rouge, or Red Barn, is absolutely my kind of wedding venue.
La Grange Rouge is a rustic barn wedding venue located in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec and a wedding there instantly has a more relaxed vibe to it. Being surrounded by nature allows for so many photo opportunities for a couple and, as a wedding photographer, it’s the type of wedding venue I always look forward to photographing at.
On their website, they say “As much as we love class and elegance, we love country and rustic. And we don’t feel they’re mutually exclusive. To be honest, modern art galleries aren’t our style of wedding venue. We wanted to create something with more warmth,” and that’s exactly the feeling you’ll experience at this venue as well as a few others around the Eastern Townships.

In everything they’ve built at La Grange Rouge, they allow for the philosophy of hand-made elegance to shine through. That’s why so much of the wood that makes up the newly refinished walls was milled by Michael (the owner) himself. And his attention to detail was not lacking whatsoever.
This is a venue with a history that dates back to 1929. Years ago, it was a rare week where it wasn’t filled with smiling people dancing the night away on the same floor that’s there today. In turning it into a reception hall, the owners were careful not to lose the feel and personality that made it so special. Wherever possible, they reused pieces of the beautifully aged wood that’s been there since 1929; Just one of the many measures they took to let its rich history shine through and become part of your story.
La Grange Rouge is not far from all the hotels, caterers, and practical services in Sherbrooke.
But it’s also far enough from the city to have some great places for wedding photos, both on the property as well as at nearby attractions.

Of course, a wedding venue should be as practical as it is beautiful. Here are some things you won’t have to stress about for your wedding.
On-Site Ceremony
With such a beautiful venue and location, why worry about going elsewhere for the ceremony? Have your ceremony in our beautiful venue or even outside beneath the arch. With our beautiful property, the arch and our “Kissing Booth,” an outdoor ceremony has fantastic potential for amazing photos.

One event per weekend
Booking only one wedding per weekend allows La Grange Rouge to focus entirely on your wedding without worrying about who’s coming the day after. It also gives you the option at all times to have the day before to set up and, with the Ruby and Scarlet packages they offer, the day after to take down so that you won’t feel rushed to get in and get out.

Capacity
Thanks to its wide-open dance floor, ample seating, and spacious mezzanine, La Grange Rouge can accommodate up to 180 people. Because of the mezzanine, it’s big enough not to feel cramped with a large crowd but lets you section it off to feel more intimate if you prefer a shorter guest list.

This venue is a great example of the kind of location I love to photograph weddings. If you’re planning a wedding at La Grange Rouge or anywhere similar, I’d love to hear from you, so please drop me an email via the Contact Page.
About Steve
I’m a Brit living in Montreal with my wife, Evelyne and our three boys, Elliott, Isaac and Jonas! Evelyne and I met in the Alps in 2003 when Evelyne thought she was a cool snowboarder and I thought I was a superstar DJ. We got married in 2007 in Cornwall, England and moved to Canada in 2014.
I photographed my first wedding in 2006 and have now shot almost 500 weddings, mostly in Canada & the UK, but I absolutely love travelling anywhere in the world. I enjoyed it when I started but love my job now more than ever.
