I was always terrified of approaching girls when I was younger. I just had zero confidence and was convinced I’d be laughed out of the room. But on February 10th 2003, I spoke to the girl.
It was late on a Monday night in the French Alps. I’d been booked to DJ a club in Chamonix, and the night before my gig, the promoters took me out for a few drinks around town. At the end of the night we only had one option as everywhere else was clsing so we headed to this little club that wasn’t very busy and there I saw this blonde girl. Maybe my friend Jack Daniel helped boost my confidence and I asked if I could buy her a drink. She asked for a glass of water and I joked that she was going to be “a cheap date.” She laughed. I found out her name was Evelyne. She was French Canadian. I told her she should come to the club I was DJing the next night and, to my delight, there she was in the middle of the dancefloor while I was playing.
When the club shut down, everyone headed back to a chalet for an after-party, and I convinced her to come along. We talked all night until we were basically the only two people still awake.
Exactly 4 years after we met, February 10th 2007, that girl became my wife.
Now, here we are with three teenage boys, living in Quebec, and she’s the love of my life. What are the chances?!?
So, yeah, happy anniversary to us. It’s been an amazing journey, and I can’t wait to see out the rest of my days with her as my co-pilot.
