There are some wedding venues that are guaranteed to take your breath away. LE BELVEDERE is one such venue.
This cliffside wedding venue was voted one of Canada’s loveliest wedding venues by Wedding Bells Magazine and is sure to make for a truly memorable location for a wedding. As a wedding photographer, I get to shoot at all kinds of venues in various countries but my favourites are always those that have stunning backdrops, feel close to nature and create an informal and relaxed vibe during a wedding day.
I’m photographing more weddings in the Ottawa area now and that makes me very happy. Ottawa has so many gorgeous outdoor locations for weddings and I feel my photography is well suited to a Le Belvedere wedding much more than some downtown reception hall!

**Reflecting on a Wedding Day at Le Belvedère, Ottawa**
I recently had the chance to photograph a wedding at Le Belvedère in Ottawa, and I wanted to share some thoughts about the experience. As a wedding photographer, I’ve seen a lot of venues, and each has its own vibe and character. Le Belvedère, with its mix of nature and modern design, certainly left an impression.
The venue’s location is quite remarkable. Perched on a cliff, it offers views over the valleys and hills that are pretty hard to beat. For a photographer, this means plenty of opportunities for those scenic shots that couples love. During the ceremony, the natural backdrop added a peaceful and intimate touch to the photos, which I always appreciate.
Le Belvedère’s reception hall is spacious and filled with natural light, thanks to its large windows. This made capturing the evening’s festivities a bit easier, especially when it came to getting those candid shots. The modern design of the hall lends itself to a variety of photography styles, which is great for matching the couple’s preferences.
One thing I always look forward to at this venue is the sunset photoshoot. The way the light changes in the evening can create some stunning effects. However, it’s important to time these shots right, as the perfect lighting can be fleeting. These moments often end up being among the more striking photos of the day.
The venue offers a good mix of locations for group photos, from the grand staircase to the outdoor terraces. This variety is helpful for getting different types of shots, whether it’s the more formal group pictures or the fun, spontaneous ones.
I have to mention the staff at Le Belvedère as well. Their professionalism really helps the day run smoothly. As a photographer, knowing that the venue staff has everything under control lets me focus on capturing the day’s moments.
Le Belvedère is a nice choice for couples who are into the blend of nature and modern architecture. The venue does offer a mix of picturesque views and a contemporary setting. From a photographer’s perspective, it’s always enjoyable to work in a place that offers a variety of backdrops and settings.
To sum it up, photographing a wedding at Le Belvedère in Ottawa is a pretty solid experience. The combination of the natural setting and the modern venue provides a nice backdrop for wedding photos. Every venue has its unique aspects, and Le Belvedère’s mix of nature and elegance definitely stands out in its own way. For any couples looking at this venue, it offers some great opportunities for beautiful wedding day memories. And for me, as a photographer, it’s another interesting location to explore and capture those special moments.
About Steve
I’m a Brit living in Montreal with my wife, Evelyne and our three boys, Elliott, Isaac and Jonas! Evelyne and I met in the Alps in 2003 when Evelyne thought she was a cool snowboarder and I thought I was a superstar DJ. We got married in 2007 in Cornwall, England and moved to Canada in 2014.
I photographed my first wedding in 2006 and have now shot almost 500 weddings, mostly in Canada & the UK, but I absolutely love travelling anywhere in the world. I enjoyed it when I started but love my job now more than ever.
