“Steve Gerrard has a knack for capturing the tiniest, fleeting moments you didn’t even realise were happening, as well as the all-important hero shots.” – Rock My Wedding
Hi, I’m Steve, a Brit living in Montreal and I’m excited and humbled to hear you’re interested in having me photograph your wedding. I’ve photographed over 400 weddings all over the world and absolutely love what I do. Every wedding I photograph is totally different to the next. Every couple is unique, and it’s that variety that gets me excited every time I head out of the door with my cameras.
I’m a dad to 3 kids, husband to Evelyne, a music junkie and I love a great movie. Evelyne and I met in the Alps in 2003 when Evelyne thought she was a cool snowboarder and I thought I was a superstar DJ! We got married in 2007 in Cornwall, England and moved to Canada in 2014.
I love… Pearl Jam and music of (almost) all genres, scuba diving, the movies of Emmanuel Lubezk and Wes Anderson, direct flights, bourbon, sushi, countryside pubs, Alan Partridge, funky hotels and dark chocolate.
You can follow me on Instagram if you like – @stevegerrard
My photos have been published in multiple magazines including Rolling Stone, Exclaim!, Professional Photographer, NME, Metal Hammer and Kerrang! and I’ve been accredited photographer for the likes of Pearl Jam, Kanye West, U2, Beyonce, Metallica, Billie Eilish and…. errr… Justin Bieber.
My style for weddings is 90% documentary, so my goal is to make images that are creative, visually appealing and unique even though I’m not involved in what’s happening in front of me. I want to make photos that will transport you back in time whenever you see them and remind you how you felt in that moment.
I believe weddings are a celebration of the fact that you found each other, the connection between the two of you, as well as all those people you love most and invite to celebrate with you. But I also love to create artistic and genuine portraits with couples. You’ll see plenty of those in my wedding portfolio and on my Instagram.
I was recently interviewed by Junebug Weddings in America. Junebug represents the best wedding photographers in the world and I’m proud to be featured. To learn more about me as a photographer click HERE to read my interview.
Choosing and booking your wedding photographer is an enormous decision, and I want to make sure that you have as much information as possible about the way that I work, and how the whole process works for you so that you know that I’m the right photographer for you. I’ve included as much information as I can on this page about how I work, my pricing and extra options that you can choose from. Please take a good look through and if you have any questions please do ask away.
To give the best service to the couples I work with, I only take on a limited number of weddings each year and below you will find some information on how I work, my ethos and the different options that I offer. If my style and approach resonates with you, then I’d love to hear from you to find out more about your wedding plans.
I see myself as a creative storyteller who will meticulously document your day from start to finish in my own unobtrusive, natural but creative style. I love to find beauty in the seemingly mundane, subtle moments amidst the chaos, and I’ve learnt that the best moments are often the unscripted ones.
Most of your wedding day I’ll take a purely documentary approach to the photography: I won’t direct your day, ask you to re-do things for the camera or make your guests say cheese! We won’t need to fake anything – the real magic – the genuine moments – will happen naturally and those are the ones I’ll capture. That’s not to say we can’t do a few family shots as well to keep the parents happy – I’ll send you a questionnaire before the wedding to pre-plan those and make sure there is as little disruption as possible on the day.
“Steve, I honestly am lost for words. Those pictures are perfect. You are king of the world! I am beyond happy. We absolutely bloody love them!” – Gemma + Olly
Over the course of your day (and night!), we can also sneak off occasionally to create some awesome portraits of the two of you. I’ve found that taking a few moments throughout the day works best, rather than disappearing for long periods of time; it’s important to get those amazing photos of the two of you together, but I also want to make sure you have plenty of time having fun with your favourite people!
Photography is a huge part of our lives – recording memories is so so important. Your wedding photography is probably the most valuable thing you’ll take away from your wedding (other than being husband and wife of course!), as it’s the one lasting reminder of all those special moments you’ve shared with your friends and family. Your wedding photos will be something that becomes more and more valuable to you as the years pass by.

Destination Weddings
I’m fortunate enough that a large percentage of my weddings every year are overseas. I love travelling and always feel inspired in unusual locations. Wherever in the world, it is that you are planning your wedding, just let me know – I’ll be there!
For weddings outside of Canada, I ask that travel expenses and three nights accommodation are covered.
I have an enormous amount of experience when it comes to weddings. I take huge pride in the quality of my imagery and prime dates are booked up super quickly – often up to 1-2 years in advance.
While searching for a photographer, you’ve no doubt seen plenty of buzz phrases like “capturing the moments” or “telling the story” before being told that the photographer will stay for 8 hours or less. That’s not how I work.
Being able to capture every and any moment of your wedding day matters to me – so unlimited coverage comes as standard. It’s rare for me to be at a wedding for less than 12 hours. I want to tell the complete story, from the nervous energy as you get ready with your closest friends and family all the way through to everyone letting loose on the dancefloor.
Coverage beyond midnight will incur additional costs but that’s it. So you can just get on with the important business of having the time of your lives and rest assured that you will have images to love forever.
MICRO-WEDDINGS
Recently more and more couples have chosen to opt for an intimate micro-wedding with fewer guests.
All the micro-weddings I’ve photographed have been absolutely amazing and an absolute pleasure to be witness to. The joy and excitement remain, even with fewer guests.
We can arrange a Zoom call to chat through timings for the day and work out what suits your needs the best.

Engagement Sessions
An engagement shoot can be a great way for us to have a bit of fun before your wedding day and can really help you relax in front of the camera. It’s not as painful as you think, I promise! We also get to know each other better, and you get some great photos to put up around your home. Or maybe you just want better Facebook profile pics!
I like to shoot on weekday mornings or evenings as we’ve found that it’s much quieter, we can get some gorgeous light if the weather is playing ball, plus I tend to be shooting weddings or spending time with family at the weekend 😉
Don’t worry too much about what to wear. That you feel comfortable and relaxed is the main thing.
Timings-wise I recommend that your engagement session happens at least 6 weeks before your big day.
Wedding Albums
Every couple gets access to digital files, but I believe the best way to preserve the memories of your day and relive them over and over again is through the power of a beautiful wedding album.
I’m really passionate about printing photos and being able to enjoy them ‘in person’ rather than them being lost at the bottom of a hard drive, a laptop or an obsolete disc. A bespoke album is made to last, to be handled, to be loved and passed around. Wedding albums start at $750.
