“Hiring Steve as our wedding photographer was the best decision I made. His style is really what drew me to him, where you can almost feel the emotion of the moment through the picture.
His understanding of light and framing made every picture art.
I was thinking maybe I would fall in love with 15-20 pictures max, but so many are so beautiful, I have a hard time choosing which ones to frame, and that is a really good problem to have.
Mind you, his work is so flawless that I was going through the pictures and completely forgot that a majority of them were taken when it was cloudy. They all are beautiful and vivid, even the action shots of people dancing and pictures taken in low light. They all look like they are straight out of a magazine.
Getting the two photographers was also a really good decision because we also got so many beautiful pictures of our loved ones. One even told me, “I don’t even have pictures that look this nice from my own wedding.” He even took amazing pictures of my pet!!
He’s there when you need and and melts into the background during the rest. Hiring Steve is like the decision that keeps on giving.” Roxanne + Vincent
Wow! I’ve shot at some beautiful wedding venues in Quebec, but I have to say that Château Ste-Agnès might just be my new favourite.
As you’ll see from the photos below, Château Ste-Agnès has some of the most breathtaking views imaginable. It makes for a quite spectacular backdrop for an outdoor wedding ceremony.
I’d been looking forward to this one for a while. Roxanne actually contacted me about photographing her and Vincent’s wedding way back in May 2020. Her email said, “I was wondering if it would be possible to book you for our wedding. However, we don’t have an exact date or venue planned yet.”
Eventually, they had a date and a venue, and I learned all about Château Ste-Agnès, but as their website explains very well, “Château Ste-Agnès cannot be solely explained nor captured in a picture; it needs to be lived and felt.”
Roxanne and Vincent’s day began with the boys getting ready at the venue while Roxanne’s crew were a few miles up the road at a very cool house in the woods. It was there that the couple had their first look, accompanied by their adorable dog, Tokio. Fun fact: Tokio was also their ring bearer for the ceremony!
Once we got to the venue, it was time for the guests to be seated in front of the breathtaking views of the Appalachian mountain ranges. One thing I loved about the ceremony was that I could discreetly move around a lot to get a good variety of photos. I could get close to capture the exchange of rings, get multiple angles of the vows and get up high to capture wide-angle shots of the couple and all of their guests with views of the vineyard and the mountains.
After the ceremony, I gave the bride and groom time to mingle with their guests before we got some family photos, followed by portraits with the couple before the sun dipped behind the horizon. Château Ste-Agnès is a dream for a photographer, as it has so many picturesque areas without having to walk far at all.
Inside the venue, the decor was beautiful. “Candle drama instead of a ton of flowers,” as Roxanne puts it. They also rented orange lighting to add to the ambiance. It looked great.
The party got going almost immediately. The long room at Château Ste-Agnès works great because it forces everyone to get nice and close on the dancefloor. Tight dancefloors make for the best parties!
After some hilarious and occasionally moving speeches, Roxanne surprised Vincent with a dance routine that reflected the culture of her family.
Then there was plenty more dancing, a fun photo booth, a violin player they discovered performing on the street in Montreal and a tunnel of sparklers that again made for great photos.
Huge thanks to Roxanne and Vincent for having me there to document such a perfect wedding day. It was one to remember.
