Mid-November finally sees things slowing down a bit with shoots, especially weddings. Temperatures are dropping fast. We already had some snow. I’m definitely a fan of warm weather, but the winter months have the advantage of allowing me to focus on different things as my edit queue begins to look more manageable. I have one more wedding to edit as well as a few other shoots. And only two more weddings to photograph this year.
One of the things I’m planning to make time for is pushing an area of my photography that I really want to promote in 2024. And that’s headshots and branding photography. I’ve always done this kind of photography, but I’ve never really promoted myself as a headshot or branding photographer. I think there’s a market in Montreal for headshots that are a little different. On location, relaxed and with a little more personality than what people might have had done before in a studio. I’ve always enjoyed meeting people and finding out what makes them tick. I think one of my skills is making people comfortable in front of the camera and capturing something of their personality. So yeah, that’s a big part of my plan for the next few months. Wish me luck!
Even though fewer people plan weddings at this time of year, the same can’t be said for live shows. I already shot 3 concerts this week and on Sunday I get to photograph one of my favourite bands for the first time… TOOL. The confirmation email says we only get to shoot one song, but in brackets mentions that the song is almost ten minutes long! Haha
I haven’t even seen Tool live for over 17 years, so I’m very excited to catch the gig. And Evelyne is gonna join me so it’ll be extra special. Don’t worry, she’s used to waiting for me while I go to take photos at the beginning of the show 🙂
