I am still left breathless about the amazing photos you shared with us this morning. Ouf! I am so impressed by your talent. You are amazing.

Maude & Richard’s wedding at Au Vieux Moulin in Rigaud was special for several reasons. For one, it was my first time photographing at Au Vieux Moulin just 15 minutes away from our home in Rigaud. It’s a fantastic wedding venue and I’m surprised I haven’t shot there before now.

But the main reason this was a very special wedding is that Maude & Richard are some of our best friends. Evelyne has known Maude since she was a kid at school and was chosen to be one of Maude’s bridesmaids on the wedding day, along with our other good friend Sarah. This was the first wedding where I was allowed to take the bridesmaid home at the end of the night! 🙂

We started the day at the couple’s home where the girls were getting ready. Hair and makeup were done by another friend of mine, Chelsea Dawn Chawsky. Then I headed to hang out with Richard and his friends before heading to Au Vieux Moulin where the plan was to have an outdoor ceremony by the water. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans!

Soon before ceremony time, the rain started. And it didn’t stop! The ceremony was moved undercover but was actually really nice and intimate as a result. It all got quite emotional, especially during Maude’s vows. I do love some genuine emotions during this time. It was a lovely moment. Maude and Richard have been together for a long time and have four kids. This day had been a long time coming!

Luckily we got a short break in the weather just before the light faded so were able to use the stunning grounds for photos of the bride and groom. It was mid-October and the incredible autumn colours made for a truly amazing backdrop.

After the portraits, we stayed inside the wedding venue for food, speeches and dancing. It was a really fun party with a great crowd of people.

It’s always a privilege to photograph a wedding but when it’s a couple you know well it’s a whole new level. I’m really happy I got to be there to capture the day for our good friends. And I’m even happier I got to take that bridesmaid home!

About Steve

I’m a Brit living in Montreal with my wife, Evelyne and our three boys, Elliott, Isaac and Jonas! Evelyne and I met in the Alps in 2003 when Evelyne thought she was a cool snowboarder and I thought I was a superstar DJ. We got married in 2007 in Cornwall, England and moved to Canada in 2014. I photographed my first wedding in 2006 and have now shot almost 500 weddings, mostly in Canada & the UK, but I absolutely love travelling anywhere in the world. I enjoyed it when I started but love my job now more than ever.
