Ronnie James Dio – RIP

H&H20

Last night I was saddened to hear about the death of one of rock music’s greatest ever vocalists.. Ronnie James Dio.

Ronnie passed away on Sunday after losing his battle with stomach cancer. He was best known for being the vocalist with Black Sabbath after Ozzy left, but also had success with his own band, Dio, as well as with Rainbow and, more recently, Heaven & Hell.

He also made it onto South Park and starred in Tenacious D: The Pick Of Destiny

I was lucky enough to meet Ronnie many years ago. He was a true gent. I’ve also photographed him on stage and have included a few faves with this post.

We lost a good man and a great singer this week, but his music will live on. RIP Ronnie.

  1. I didn’t like the man’s music, and watching Heaven & Hell last year at Sonisphere was comical, but he was a massive influence to a lot of people and it’s a sad day in metal world m/
